Speakers
I think it is so great of you all to volunteer to be speakers!! However, maybe only half of our class participates in the blog and there may be many more students interested in speaking. I think we need to list all interested people on the board, then take a vote by paper for 4 people that we would like to represent our class. All the papers can be turned in folded to one person or maybe even Mrs. Azevedo and counted for the 4 people with the most votes to be our speakers. This way we can avoid any fellow students feelings being hurt by watching a show of hands or something along those lines. We can also ask if students would like to nominate fellow students for this honor and if this nominee accepts they can also be added to the list on the board for voting this can help out some of our more modest students that might like the opportunity as well. Or something along these lines...........these are just my thoughts on this, please feel free to comment on what you all think. I know for some classes in the past the selection of class speakers has been very tense and has not always gone smoothly.
WE ARE ALMOST DONE !!!!!!!!

Speakers cont.
Well I would like to nominate my friend Gemekia for a speaker. I think she would be the perfect one to speak of the memories of the program. Every time we have done anything that requires someone to speak I love that she is the first one to raise her glass up and give a toast. They are very "make u wanna tear up" toasts too! No one can do them better than Meekia can. I nominate her=)

Hi everyone!
I am so proud of how far we've all come along from when we started our first semester! I'm really looking forward to our Pinning and would love to have the
opportunity to be one of the speakers as well.
Have a great weekend!

Speaker
That's a goood idea Lindsey!
Whoever wants to be a speaker can post it on the blog, and we can finalize it this Monday, because the next Mondays to come are a holiday and tests days. I don't know about everyone else, but I can't focus on anything on test days, my only focus is the test. N10 will be ending soon and we will not be together again, to discuss group agendas.
I would also like to speak at the Pinning, I think it would be an honor! Danielle you are a wonderful speaker and and I would love for you to be a speaker!!!!!

What Work Net will pay for...
I spoke with Susan from WorkNet today, she informed me about the cutbacks in the program. Due to this, WorkNet will NOT pay for our caps, but they will pay for our license, permit, and NCLEX fees. She will be sending letters out, but just thought I'd let you know ahead of time!

Grad Pictures!
I just wanted to update everyone on the goings on with the yearbook. I received a call at the end of last week from Blue Rascals, stating "Due to staffing issues, they were unable to take our pinning ceremony pictures". However she did refer me to another company. Since then, I have contracted with a company by the name of Fritzchin Photography (I know, weird name huh) www.fritzchin.com , but they have a department that specializes in school photography. They have experience with Capping and Pinning ceremonies. Another great bit of news, they will keep the same pricing Blue Rascals quoted us, which is SUPER because the packages ranged from $22-$66. This company also plans to be present during the entire ceremony taking pictures, including the moment each of us is pinned, and we will be able to purchase pictures from their website. I am very excited about this company. Lastly I want to say, Blue Rascals is a wonderful company and it was wonderful she told me this information well in advance, instead of "Trying to make it work". So please keep them in mind for your further photography needs!

A couple things...
Here is a website for access to the "American Nurses Association" page. Normally you have to pay to access this site, but they changed it for students so we can log in for free.

Thought it might be helpful for who ever needs a research article for N8. :)
Also here is the link for the application for graduation. Takes a while to process, so you might want to turn it in soon. :)
Good luck to everyone!!

Thought this was interesting
You are what you eat, so eat well. A stupendous insight of civilizations past has now been confirmed by today's investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called "The Doctrine of Signatures" was astoundingly correct. It now contends that every whole food has a pattern that resembles a body organ or physiological function and that this pattern acts as a signal or sign as to the benefit the food provides the eater.
Here is just a short list of examples of Whole Food Signatures.
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Eggplant, Avocadoes and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? .... It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocad o from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics. Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.
Grapefruits, Oranges , and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like body cells. Today's research sho ws that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

$20.00 for Pinning
Sorry! This morning I was freakin out about the test; I couldn't remeber what the $20.00 the Nursing office was collecting for. Anyway Mary mentioned something about ribbons, but she went on to say they (the Nursing dept) covers the bulk of that cost. The 20, covers mainly the cap. Mary N., said the cost of the hat has gone up this year. Anyway payments can be paid into the Nursing office in cash.
Again, sorry for the Brain Blip this morning, my mind is clearer now!!!
Cute Dress
I found a cute dress at Scrubs Etc. by our lecture room. It's in the shopping center with America's Tire and McDonalds on March and West Ln. Beware though if you don't have a juniors body style. They are Junior cut and so I have to buy a size bigger than normal, but they are really cute on and only $26 in the store. Here's a link to a picture if you wanna see it. The lady in the store said they were really popular last graduation.

Graduation Dresses
I was at Life Uniform today so I decided to see if they had any dresses. And no they don't in the store. You can look through their catalog and order one, but it will take about 3 weeks she said. Also, what you order is what you get. If you don't like it or it's not the right size you are stuck with it she said. So buyer beware. Perhaps we can find a store with products to try on.
Life Uniform, however, does have a lot of nice white scrub outfits. They have white on white detail and patterns if you want to get a scrub suit instead of the dress.
