1. Define and give examples of ethnocentrism.
Ethnocentrism is the thought that one's cultural values and beliefs are superior to those of other cultures. In providing care for clients that have differing cultural beliefs and practices, health care professionals must genuinely explore their own feelings and beliefs and consider how their ethnocentrism may impact the care delivered to clients. An example would be as a health care professional not listening to a client who wants a cultural remedy because you don't believe in it.
